It’s Funny How

Woman standing barefoot beside ocean waves on a rocky beach

It’s funny how life can seem so drear
Until something magical appears.
A simple word of kindness brought
Can overwhelm an anxious thought.

It ‘s funny how days of sorrow
Can be gone by tomorrow.
My thoughts today can swiftly change
When goodness comes to rearrange.

It’s funny how tears can streak my grieving face
But a memory of those long gone sets my heart to race.
Grief can make the strongest weep
When one so loved rests now deep.

It’s funny how this life abounds
To experience all its rounds.
To know great joy all about
Is to also feel deep pain throughout.

It’s funny how we carry on
When so much ebbs and flows.
And yet somehow through all the blows,
I wouldn’t change who I’ve become.
